The only decent free agent third baseman is Mike Lowell. I do like Lowell as a player, but I just don’t see him in pinstripes next year, in any case I think Lowell returns to Boston. I do like Wilson Betimet as the Yankees third baseman next year. I also really like the odds that Torii Hunter will be a Yankee next year. The Yankees could move Melky to right field, and put Hunter in center, and keep Damon as the DH/left fielder. They could also move Melky back to left field and Damon to right, keep Matsui on the bench to open up the DH spot in the lineup to maybe Shelley Duncan.
