About

I am a Detroit Tigers fan through & through. I was there in 2003 when they lost 119 games which made the 2006 World Series run that much more rewarding. I probably take the games far too seriously, but I am OK with that. Curtis Granderson is far & away my #1 favorite player.

Non-Tigers I like include:

– Kelvim Escobar
– Rich Harden
– Dan Haren
– John Lackey
– Alex Rodriguez
– Johan Santana
– Ichiro Suzuki
– Vernon Wells
– David Wright

As an avid fantasy baseball player and overall baseball fan, there are several others, too.

I live in Austin, TX & work at Dell Inc.

If you feel like you need to know anything else about me, just ask…

  3. The year they built Comerica park, which btw has a bottle of Bud Light buried deep beneath home plate. A friend of mine and I were trying to break into Tiger Stadium to get some pictures. We were caught by security who brought us inside. We were worried that he was going to trespass us and call the police. To our surprise he let us take two rolls of film of which neither turned out. The beer story was told to me by a high school teacher who’s brother was the forman for the new park.

  5. Dear Paul

I want to start by letting you know I read Baseball By Paul, and I enjoy your blog.  It is very informative and I thank you for that.  I started a blog recently re: Detroit sports in general, and the info. from your site has at times sparked ideas for my blog.  It’s a simple blog that basically asks questions about local sports and encourages fans to leave their opinions.  It’s called the Detroit Sports Question, and if interested you can visit at http://www.theDSQ.com.  I would like to propose a link exchange deal: I will link Baseball By Paul from my site if you’re willing to add my blog’s link to your Other Favorites section.  If you have any questions, comments, or concerns just let me know.  Again, thanks for creating such an informative sports blog.

I want to thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Sincerely,
    Evan@DSQ

  11. Shouldn’t Dan Haren be at the top of that list, instead of 3rd? Actually, shouldn’t Dan Haren get his own paulsporer.com page, like paulsporer.com/danharenisamazing ?

    • LOL!!! Kelvim Escobar’s inclusion should tell you how old this entry is, though I still like those players whether they play or not (looking at you Rich Harden). Re: Haren, obviously he should not only be #1 on the list, but the site name should be http://www.danharen.com/paulsporer or /baseballbypaul This much is OBVIOUS!!! :) Viva El Haren.

I can’t wait to get you a Haren jersey when he dominates this year and let you proudly join my bandwagon.
